Ahmet Yaşar became the 22nd President of TSB
The Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the Turkish Insurance Association (TSB), the umbrella organization of the Turkish insurance industry, has been completed. At the General Assembly, where the new president and management staff were determined, strong messages were given for the future of the sector, and the importance of public and sector cooperation was once again emphasized.

The Ordinary General Assembly of the Turkish Insurance Association (TSB) was held with wide participation in Istanbul Ataşehir on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. General Assembly; It started with the opening speeches of Uğur Gülen, whose presidential term ended, as well as Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency (SEDDK) President Davut Menteş and Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Osman Çelik.
As a result of the voting held at the General Assembly held with the participation of 68 member companies representing the insurance industry, Maher Holding Insurance Group President Ahmet Yaşar was elected as the 22nd President of the Insurance Association of Turkey, receiving 30 votes. The new president will serve for two years.
During the General Assembly, the elections of the Non-Life Management Committee and Life Pension Management Committee members were also completed.
Ahmet Yaşar: "We will build a stronger insurance sector with common sense"
In his speech of thanks, Ahmet Yaşar, who was elected as the 22nd President of TSB, drew attention to the strategic role of the insurance sector in the Turkish economy and emphasized that they will act with a participatory and inclusive management approach in the coming period: "The insurance sector is not only a structure that guarantees risks; it is also an important assurance of economic stability and social welfare. In the coming period, increasing the depth of our sector, spreading insurance awareness to all segments of society and supporting growth with innovative solutions will be among our priorities. Together with all our stakeholders, we will move our sector forward with common sense and strong cooperation."
Osman Çelik: "The insurance sector strengthens the resilience of the Turkish economy"
Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Osman Çelik emphasized that the insurance sector plays an indispensable role in the healthy functioning of the financial system and the management of economic risks. Çelik said, "Insurance and BES are areas that support economic stability, strengthen risk management and are of critical importance for long-term investments. The effective work of the Union will make a significant contribution to our country." Stating that the insurance sector plays a strategic role in terms of social welfare, Çelik defined the approach to the future of the sector as "inclusive, transparent and sustainable growth". In this context, he emphasized that managing risks professionally and increasing trust in the sector are among the priority goals.
Stating that there is a significant growth potential in the coming period, Çelik stated that the element of trust should be strengthened in order to realize this potential. Stating that providing a complementary structure to the Private Pension System is among the main targets, Çelik added that studies on Compulsory Disaster Insurance (ZAS) are included in the plans for 2026.
Davut Menteş: "Protection of the insured and sector stability is our priority"
SEDDK President Davut Menteş emphasized in his speech that as the regulatory and supervisory authority, their priority is to protect the rights and interests of the insured. Stating that the focus of all work is on the protection of the insured and the progress of the sector in a healthy, strong and sustainable structure, Menteş stated that they acted in close dialogue with all stakeholders in this process and that the Insurance Association of Turkey continues to be one of the most important stakeholders.
Menteş also shared information about the board's 14-item 2026 agenda and said that the sector has achieved a significant acceleration in both production and quantitative growth. Making evaluations about the growth indicators of the sector, Menteş stated that there was an 8 percent increase in the number of policies and a 5 percent increase in private pension contracts, and that the development should be followed through these indicators and that they evaluated the healthy development within this framework by closely following this growth on a branch basis.
Uğur Gülen: "Our sector is moving towards the future on strong foundations"
Uğur Gülen, who has been serving as the President of TSB since September 2023 In his farewell speech, he drew attention to the current state of the sector and its potential. “I think we have positioned the insurance industry in a good place,” said Gülen, adding: “Our insurance industry has more than the capacity to achieve its goals with its strong corporate structure, qualified human resources and solid regulatory infrastructure.I believe that thanks to this strong culture of collaboration, our industry will continue to grow and contribute to the economic resilience of our country. It is a great pride and happiness for me to see that the Turkish Insurance Association is moving towards a much stronger future as I hand over this duty today. I wish success to our new president and board of directors.”
