Fatima Daas's semi-autobiographical novel, The Last Eye Pain, which met with the readers in April under the Can Publications label, tells the story of a young woman of Algerian origin growing up in a Paris suburb, coming to terms with her identity. Fatima Daas is in one of the suburbs of Paris, She grew up in Clichy-sous-Bois as the youngest daughter of an Algerian family. He grows up in a home where family members hesitate to show affection and where love and sexuality are considered taboo. When he leaves his predominantly Muslim neighborhood and goes to Paris, he feels like a stranger. Fatima, who grew up as a devout Muslim, questions how she can experience her interest in women while maintaining her faith while going back and forth between identities.
In her journey of discovering her own self, she turns from an unstable student into an adult who has difficulty adapting to life. Four years of therapy became her longest relationship. As he moves away from his family, he gains freedom, but he is forced to confront the contradictions within him more directly. When he meets Nina, he does not know exactly what he is missing, but he realizes that he cannot do without her.
Fatima Daas makes the reader question the concepts of belonging, love and faith again with her brave and sincere narration in The Last Eye Pain.
