Equal representation of women in management was discussed at the TÜSİAD event

TÜSİAD organized an event titled "Equal Representation of Women in Management: Measure, Monitor, Transform" within the scope of International Women's Day. At the meeting held at TÜSİAD Center on March 12, current developments regarding increasing women's representation in management and the data-based monitoring approach were discussed in different dimensions.

A set of indicators to be followed for the equal representation of women in management levels of companies has been introduced

TÜSİAD continues to offer tools and resources to support companies in this direction, following the "Business World Call to Increase Women's Representation in Management" announced to the public in 2024. The study titled "Equal Representation of Women in Management: Priority Indicators for the Business World" prepared in this context was shared with the public at the event. The study includes priority indicators that will help companies set and monitor targets for female representation in management levels.
The opening speech of the meeting was made by Perihan İnci, TÜSİAD Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors. İnci made the following statements in her speech:

"Women's equal rights and opportunities in every field, especially in the economy and decision-making mechanisms, is both a human rights issue and a fundamental element of economic and social development.
The 'equal parenting' approach, which is based on the balanced sharing of care responsibilities between women and men, and the nurseries and pre-school education that support it, are of critical importance. 
The data shows that as we move up to the upper management levels, the representation of women increases. It is necessary to monitor this table regularly and carefully evaluate the reasons for institutional support mechanisms, inclusive leadership understanding and egalitarian career processes. In this context, today we are sharing with you the indicators that are a priority for companies to follow for equal representation." He made a presentation titled "Study". Within the scope of the presentation, Ayköse shared information about the study "Equal Representation of Women in Management: Priority Indicators for the Business World".

The prominent recommendations for companies in the study are listed as follows:

  • Setting annual female representation rate targets for each management level
  • Collecting gender-based data in the Human Resources system and sharing it in annual sustainability reports,
  • Mentoring and training programs that will support the development of middle and senior level female managers. dissemination,
  • Developing mechanisms that facilitate work-life balance and responsibilities according to the different needs of all employees, male and female,
  • Making the visibility of role models that support equal representation in corporate culture, corporate communication and brand work.

After the presentation, a panel session titled "From Indicator to Behavior: Mentality Transformation for Women Representation in Management" was held. In the panel moderated by Bahar Taşkın Öztürk, Founding President of Inclusion Awareness Network (INAN) and Founder & CEO of Growth Forward Leadership; QNB Turkey Human Resources Deputy General Manager Cenk Akıncılar,EBRD Turkey and Caucasus Regional Policy Director İdil Bilgiç Alpaslanand Koton Human Resources Deputy General Manager Sebla Oran Palut were present as speakers.
